Is Nature compatible with Evolution or Oceans?

No. Nature and its modules are not compatible with any other title. We’ve spent years developing Nature as a new stand-alone game featuring a system you can explore for years to come.

How is this different from Evolution?

Nature is designed with over 10 years experience designing games for the Evolution series. We’ve learned a thing or two over that time!

Welcoming to Newcomers - Nature is much easier to learn than Evolution, faster to play, and more forgiving to new players.

Better Balanced - Nature has been in development for over 5 years. The traits in Nature are better balanced than Evolution.

Easily Expandable - Nature is a modular game system with modules that are easy to set up, quick to teach, and dramatically change the game play. Modules can also be combined to create unique gaming experiences. Nature Big Box comes with 24 unique combinations to explore, but after the next two modules are released, the system will have over 100 different ways to play!

What are modules?

Modules are similar to expansions but can be combined. Nature has 5 modules: Flight, Jurassic, Natural Disasters, Arctic Tundra and Amazon Rainforest.

Each module modifies a core rule(s), adds new cards, and takes a few minutes to set-up and teach. Modules add 1 round to the game.

Mix and match modules to over 20 different ecosystems. All modules are combinable apart from Amazon Rainforest and Arctic Tundra, as these represent different biome locations.

How long does a game of Nature take with 5-6 players?

Nature takes 30-45 minutes with 4 players. Each additional player adds around 10 minutes of play time.

Nature + Module(s) takes around 60 minutes with 4 players. Each additional player adds around 15 minutes of play time.

Last updated: September 24, 2024 04:49

Is Nature Solo compatible with all the modules?

Yes. Nature Solo features different AI species to play against and each module includes additional AI species designed to adapt to these new ecosystems.

Last updated: September 24, 2024 04:47

Can I buy the modules separately?

Yes. Flight and Jurassic are available as add-ons during the campaign.

The other 3 modules are unavailable as a separate purchase during the campaign as they will get a retail box release at a later date.

Last updated: September 21, 2024 05:22

Why are only Flight and Jurassic available as Add-Ons?

Nature Big Box backers will receive all 5 modules in the same box when their pledge is fulfilled in June 2025.

However, Flight and Jurassic are the only modules available as add-ons during the campaign as we are producing their separate boxed editions in advance of the retail release in August 2025.

The other three module retail editions will have a later release: Natural Disasters (Q4 2025), Arctic Tundra (Q4 2025) and Amazon Rainforest (Q2 2026).

What are your future plans for Nature?

Nature is a modular game system NorthStar will be supporting for the next decade. New modules will be compatible with existing ones, ensuring even more ecosystems to explore.

We are already working on the Climate Module and Disease Module planned for release in 2026 and 1 - 2 modules each year after launch. 2 years after launch there will be over 100 possible combinations.

What are the deluxe components?

The Upgraded Nature and Module Components feature double screen printed wooden upgrades of the cardboard tokens used in the game.

The Nature Predator Meeple Pack contains wooden double screen printed meeples, intended as a quality of life upgrade, to increase the visibility of predator species at the game table.

Does everything in my pledge fit in one box?

Yes. Each box is designed to match your pledge level with space to sleeve your cards.

Last updated: September 23, 2024 09:53

What are the different box sizes?

The Nature boxes are still in development, and the depth may be subject to change.

Nature is (Width 207 mm) x (Height 207 mm) x (Depth 78 mm). Nature Big Box and Deluxe are (Width 307 mm) x (Height 307 mm) x (Depth TBD).

All box sizes fit comfortably on a Kallax shelf and can fit sleeved cards.

Will the Nature Big Box hold all future modules?

No, but for good reasons.

We have a 10 year plan for Nature and leaving space for that much content would mean shipping a huge box with too much empty space.

Future content will be offered in individual module boxes, with the choice of a new big box solution designed for new content.

Why are the rulebook details different from the Kickstarter page?

We have shared an earlier version of the rulebooks, while continuing to work on the final draft. Rulebooks will be finalized and updated for fulfilment.

Can I still receive the Kickstarter bonus on the Pledge Manager?

No, the Kickstarter bonus is exclusively for those who pledge for the retail (or higher reward) during the Kickstarter campaign and does not apply to $1 kickstarter backers.

DIGITAL FAQ: Do I choose one platform for Nature Digital or get all three?

Both the Nature Digital and Digital Big Box pledges include the game on all three platforms, Steam, Android, and iOS.

Last updated: September 24, 2024 08:35

DIGITAL FAQ: How will the Digital Beta be fulfilled?

After the Kickstarter ends, all Digital Kickstarter Backers will have their email addresses uploaded into our server. When Backers log into Nature Digital using the same email they used for Kickstarter, the game (and modules for Big Box Backers) will be unlocked. If you’d like to use a different email for your NorthStar Digital login, just let us know.

DIGITAL FAQ: How will the released Digital Game goods be fulfilled?

All Digital Backers will be sent a Steam Key for the public release of the digital game. For iOS and Android, Digital Backers will download the publicly available game, and then when they log in with their Kickstarter email, all of their promised promos and modules will be unlocked.

Last updated: September 24, 2024 08:35

DIGITAL FAQ: What will be the public release launch pricing for the Digital Game?

The Nature Digital Game will likely be priced at $14.99 on Steam and $9.99 on iOS and Android. Each of the modules will likely be sold at $7.99-$9.99. The alternative art and promo cards, if they are ever sold publicly down the road after the release, will likely be for $4.99 and $9.99 respectively. These prices are not locked in stone and pricing at launch may be higher or lower than these prices, as we will continue to actively monitor the digital board game market next year and make sure the game is appropriately priced.

BackerKit FAQ

What is BackerKit?

BackerKit is a service that crowdfunded project creators use to keep track of hundreds to tens of thousands of backers—from shipping details, pledge levels, preferences and quantities, whether they have paid or had their card declined, special notes, and everything in between!

The BackerKit software and support team is independent from the campaign’s project team—BackerKit does not handle the actual reward shipping. For more information about the preparation or delivery status of your rewards, please check the project's updates page.

How does BackerKit work?

After the campaign ends, the project creator will send you an email with a unique link to your survey. You can check out a walkthrough of the process here.

I never received my invitation. How do I complete the survey?

The most common reasons for not receiving a survey email is that you may be checking an email inbox different from the email address you used to sign up with Kickstarter, Indiegogo or Tilt Pro account, or it may be caught in your spam filter.

Confirm that the email address you are searching matches the email address tied to your Kickstarter, Indiegogo, or Tilt Pro account. If that doesn’t work, then try checking your spam, junk or promotions folders. You can also search for "backerkit” in your inbox.

To resend the survey to yourself, visit the project page and input the email address associated with your Kickstarter, Indiegogo or Tilt Pro account.

How do I update my shipping address?

BackerKit allows you to update your shipping address until the shipping addresses are locked by the project creator. To update your address, go back to your BackerKit survey by inputting your email here.

When will my order be shipped, charged or locked?

That is handled directly by the project creator. BackerKit functions independently of the project itself, so we do not have control of their physical shipping timeline. If you want to check on the project’s status, we recommend reading over the project's updates page.

I completed the survey, but haven't received my rewards yet. When will they arrive?

As BackerKit does not actually handle any rewards or shipping, the best way to stay updated on the shipping timeline would be to check out the project's updates page.
